Kuala Lumpur, 3 January 2022 — Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) [KWAP] is pleased to announce the appointment of Hazman Hilmi Sallahuddin as the new Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of KWAP effective 3 January 2022.
Hazman was previously the Managing Director of Damansara Assets Sdn Bhd — a wholly owned real-estate subsidiary of Johor Corporation (JCorp) and the Chief Executive Officer of AMAL by Malaysia Airlines — a wholly owned subsidiary of the Malaysian Aviation Group. Prior to that, Hazman was with Khazanah Nasional Berhad where he served in various roles across the organisation over 12 years, including as the Senior Vice President of Khazanah Europe Investment Limited based in London, and Vice President of Khazanah Turkey Regional Office based in Istanbul. Hazman has multi-sector experience in private equity and venture capital investments with a focus on strategy, investment execution, deal negotiations, and value creation planning.
He obtained his MEng (1st Class) in Engineering, Economics and Management from Balliol College, University of Oxford, United Kingdom, and MSc in Operational Research from the London School of Economics & Political Science, United Kingdom.
About Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan)
Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) [KWAP] or the Retirement Fund (Incorporated) was established on 1st March 2007 under the Retirement Fund Act 2007 (Act 662) replacing the repealed Pensions Trust Fund Act 1991 (Act 454).
KWAP manages contributions from the federal government and relevant agencies made into the Retirement Fund [Fund] to obtain optimum returns on its investments through sound management and investment of the Fund in equity, fixed income securities, money market instruments, and other forms of investments as permitted under the Retirement Fund Act 2007 (Act 662). The Fund shall be applied towards assisting the Federal Government in financing its pension duties. In 2015, KWAP was officially appointed as an agent of the Federal Government for the purpose of pension payment, gratuity, or other benefits granted under any written law from the Consolidated Fund as agreed between the Federal Government and KWAP.
