KUALA LUMPUR, 13 September 2021 — Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) [KWAP] is pleased to announce the appointment of Hizzan Hamid as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KWAP’s property arm, KWEST Sdn Bhd (KWEST), effective 1 September 2021.
Hizzan Hamid was previously the Executive Director of Business Development at Gamuda Land, with experience in managing land acquisition and commercial real estate. His professional career in the property field spans across 14 years in local and international acquisitions, as well as facilitating joint ventures between top property development companies and government linked organisations. Hizzan also previously held a leading position in Sunway Property in Business Development and Landbank, and Malaysia Property Incorporated (MPI) in bringing foreign direct investment into the Malaysian property market.
Hizzan Hamid obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from University of Bolton UK, and a Master in Finance from Taylor’s University.
His appointment follows the departure of former KWEST CEO, Sufian Abdullah.
KWEST is a wholly owned subsidiary of KWAP established in 2017 and is the special purpose investment platform for real estate development. KWEST leading projects include Seri Tanjung Pinang 2 Phase 2A (STP2A) and Compass @ KSL.
About Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan)
Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) [KWAP] or the Retirement Fund (Incorporated) was established on 1st March 2007 under the Retirement Fund Act 2007 (Act 662) replacing the repealed Pensions Trust Fund Act 1991 (Act 454).
KWAP manages contributions from the federal government and relevant agencies made into the Retirement Fund [Fund] to obtain optimum returns on its investments through sound management and investment of the Fund in equity, fixed income securities, money market instruments, and other forms of investments as permitted under the Retirement Fund Act 2007 (Act 662). The Fund shall be applied towards assisting the Federal Government in financing its pension duties. In 2015, KWAP was officially appointed as an agent of the Federal Government for the purpose of pension payment, gratuity, or other benefits granted under any written law from the Consolidated Fund as agreed between the Federal Government and KWAP.
